Siddhaganga, a famous pilgrim centre, has a hilltop temple dedicated to Siddhalingeshwara. At the entrance of this temple six shrines can be seen. The Veerashaiva Mutt, an important educational and pilgrim centre, is close by.
Tumkur is the district headquarters. It is called 'Tummugere' in a 10th Century record.The oldest temple here is Lakshminarayana built in 1560.It came under Mysore during the 17th century when a Maruti temple was built.Nearby Kyatsandra has the siddhaganga Kshetra on a hill.There is s Veerashaiva Matha at Siddhaganga known for its unique educational services.It runs a free hostel feeding nearly 5000 students.It also runs many educational institutions including an engineering college.Siddhaganga has the samadhi of Siddhalingeshwara, a Veerashaiva saint and there is a natural spring called Siddhaganga.
Sree Siddaganga Mutt is an ancient ashram fostering a continuous line of illustrious "Shiva Yogi Siddapurushas". The Mutt was established by Sree Gosala Siddeshwara Swamiji in 15th century A.D.
In this tradition of illustrious shivyogis, it has progressed with unique contributions from Sree Sree Ataveeshwara Swamigalu, Sree Sree Uddana Shivayoigalu and the present head of the Mutt His Holiness Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamigalu
The Mutt is situated amidst a divenly serene and colorful landscape at a distance of 63 Km from Bangalore, India. In the later years, developed in to a much visited piligrimage.
Sree Siddaganga Mutt is a unique Gurukula providing education to more than 8000 poor children with free food and shelter, without any discrimination of caste or creed. The Mutt also runs a blind school & nearly 100 blind children are given free education & food with an idependent hostel facility.
The Mutt established Sree Siddaganga Education Society in 1962 & runs more than 130 educational institutions. The Mutt also organises annual Agricultural & Industrial exhibition for the benefit of Farmers.

Namadha Chilume : Is one of the historical place which has a small Streak of water flowing, it is said that this streak of water is flowingfrom Threthra yuga it is said in history that during Rama - sitha vanavasa, Sitha was thirsty to quench her thirst Rama aimed a arrow to a Rock from which water splurged out since than this spring of water has never got dried up even during worst droughts.Source from which this water is flowing is unknown till today.it has thick forest and beautiful Deer Safari which is quite amusing. It has beautiful Travellers Bunglow which makes staying here more pleasant.This place is 62Km to 65Km from Bangalore. 8km from Tumkur.
