General Cariappa Memorial Park was built in the memory of field Marshall K.M. Cariappa, who belonged to the state of Karnataka. The foundation stone of the park was laid in 1996 and during the later part of the year the park was opened for public viewing. The park lies between M G Road and Cubbon Road. In fact the park is one of the most preferred weekend destinations.
The park covers an area of about 22 acres mainly consists of six divisions. The entire park is divided as per the areas of attraction, which consists of entertainment arena, amusement place for children, food court etc.

Apart from the main entrance, it there is a huge monument of general Cariappa, man made water falls, pond and various plants and animals. There is also a well maintained lawn, which have comfortable seating arrangements for the visitors and for the public.
The play arena for children has been created in a typical scientific style, which serves both entertainment value as well as it helps to improve the physical strength and toughness of the kids. Some of the games which are there in the park are sand pits, Burma Bridge, a spider web and a lot more other such games.
General Cariappa Memorial Park also has separate joggers track, walkers track, etc and is preferred by all morning walkers. There are different types of trees which are lined up on either side of the walking track. If you are a nature lover, then this place will surely excite you, as you can see more than 3000 variety of trees and other plant species. The park adheres with the eco friendly norms, no pesticide or chemical used for maintenance and growth of the plants and trees.
One of the specialty of the park is the presence of the man made park along with the water falls is a huge attraction. There are different varieties of birds, which flocks in and is a preferred destination for migratory birds.
You can drop in at any point of time at General Cariappa Memorial Park, as the park remains open on all days. Even though the park is open to public on all seven days, on Saturday it is open to visitors from 1 to 7PM and on Sundays, it is open to visitors from 9 to 7 AM. On the rest of the days it is open from 5.30 PM to 8 PM.
